Faye Wooden's life story is as colorful as the stories she tells.
She was raised an “army brat” who spent many of her childhood days on
the family dairy farm and in her grandfather’s drug store. Faye’s work
experience are varied: teacher, university administrator, musician,
bear trapper, herbalist, pet therapy volunteer, author, hiker and student
of nature. She holds a Master’s Degree in Storytelling from East Tennessee
State University, and has performed at many festivals and other events.
She teaches storytelling workshops and directs the annual Haunting in the
Hills Storytelling Festival. A nationally-recognized public speaker since 1980,
Faye has conducted professional development workshops, seminars, and radio

An Appalachian native, Faye Wooden weaves “Laughter, Legends, Lessons and Life”
into storytelling performances for all ages. Her musical voice has a deep hypnotic
quality, and she sometimes uses music to enhance her stories. “Her performances
touch the very fabric of people’s lives” at school, library, civic, church or family
events and prestigious storytelling festivals. Faye holds a M.Ed. in Storytelling
